Hostel Description
Hi Backpacker. It's definitely Winter. Mulled wine, Christmas markets, piping hot cinnamon pastries, outdoor thermal bathing in the magical steamy dark, icy fresh air, snow and general festive cheer. As long as you have bodily insulation, walks in the city will be stunning and thoroughly enjoyable, and we will always be there, heating on, kettle boiled, wine mulling ready for the cosy evening to begin.
As always, the Loft is the place to be. We will continue to make you feel as comfortable as possible and not as far away from home as you may actually be. We will continue to fuel you with free tea, coffee and nesquik, and whatever other beverages we happen to have around at the time. We will continue to keep the place filled with warmth and as much joy as we can possibly cram into your stay, be it short or long. We will take you to live music, cook you big pots of hungarian food, teach you how to do the Rubiks Cube, play scrabble, or chess, watch movies, show you where and what to eat, drink and do and assist you in any possible way- Be it organising budget onward travel or accompanying you to the emergency ward (hopefully not the latter). If you want us to. rnrnBut if you prefer your privacy, then we offer you alot of square meterage per person so you will have adequate space to keep to yourself, and all the tourist literature you will need to be guided through the city. If you have been traveling for months, then feel free to rejuvenate on our cosy couches, with a few beers or one of our books, or if you are on a short stay, you will get a wonderful nights sleep on our comfy beds, which will prepare you for a long days sight seeing. Whatever your goals in Budapest, we will continue to make it our goal to help you reach them and beyond. rn rnJoin the Loft family and enjoy our hospitality like you would at home. - Our wonderful common room - beautiful big room with TV, shed loads of DVDs for your quiet nights in (and a stockable beer fridge for the noisy ones), massive wrap around sofa, with board games, free computer internet use and free Wi-Fi for you laptoppers, cd writing, colour printing, photocopying, also washing facilities, free hot beverages (coffee, good fruity teas, specially imported English tea for you brits, hot chocolate, and cocoa), no curfew, shed loads of tours on offer (just ask, and we will organise), info about your next destination, and all the other usual tourist info. rn rnPlus, make good use of our well stocked kitchen complex - where you can sit back and relax in the open plan dining room while your comrade makes you pasta and tomato sauce.....rn..again...rn rn....and that?s only the stuff inside. Literally seconds away from our cheery doorstep is the whole of Budapest. We deliberately settled in the most central position we could so you don?t ever have to be too far away from the comfy couch nor the sights. We are just 30 metres from the main tourist jaunt, Vaci Utca, where there are many many many restaurants and shops, and a stones throw from the huge market hall where you can grab a quick pastry in the morning, a big cheapy goulash in the afternoon, all your ingredients to cook up a storm in the evening and all your token souvenirs 10 minutes before your plane leaves. The green liberty bridge is right next to the market, leading to the world famous Gellert thermal baths and the lovely walk to the top of the Citadella where there are panoramic views a plenty. If you walked half the distance you just threw your stone, you could have been sitting on the Danube banks, drinking a hot latte or ice cold beer (what ever floats your boat) whilst the mighty Citadella looms over you, and sun sets behind the magnificent Buda Castle just to your right. rnrnThere are of course sights to be seen further afield, but with our nearby public transport connections (trams, busses, trolley busses, metros) and our extremely knowledgeable staff, that will be a breeze. But one reason that Budapest is a great city to see, is that walking around here makes you feel like you are somewhere that really lives, not just pretends to for the tourists. And we are in great position to comfortably walk most places. Last but not at all least, if you are night time sort of person, then our situation near to the major out door clubs of the summer, and cool underground clubs of the winter will put an intoxicated smile on your face. Our staff are up to date with what?s hot and what?s not. And if you like some obscure kind of music, we will endeavour to find an obscure club suitable for you.
Please Note: Due to some misunderstandings, please take note that we advise for family bookings, children under the age of 16 or adults over the age of 50-ish to seek alternative accommodation. We also request that groups of more than six contact us by email. We will of course have you here happily, but we are aware it might not be suitable for your needs. Thank you. Our hostel workers are lovers of fine cuisine, and other such things, so, if you would be so kind as to email us your where abouts before coming to the hostel, maybe we can discuss some sort of deal. e.g 1 free night for 8 euros of parmesan cheese, or a couple of hundred tetley's tea bags.... We can not take credit cards as payment for your balance when you get here. Unfortunately.
